Thailand signed the International Coffee Agreement 2007 and deposited an Instrument of Ratification at the International Coffee Organization (ICO), London on 4 August 2007.

H.E. Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, Ambassador of Thailand signed the International Coffee Agreement 2007 on behalf of the Thai Government in the presence of Dr. Nestor Osorio Londoo, the Executive Director of the International Coffee Organization, as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Depositary for the International Coffee Agreement (ICA) 2007.    

The objective of the Agreement is to strengthen the global coffee sector and promote its sustainable expansion in the market-based environment for the betterment of all participants in the in coffee matters.

The International Coffee Organization (ICO) is the main intergovernmental organization for coffee, set up in London in 1963, bringing together producing and consuming countries to tackle the challenges facing the world coffee sector through international cooperation. ICO has 77 Members include 45 coffee exporting and 32 importing countries. The Organization functions through the International Coffee Council, the Executive Board, the Private Sector Consultative Board, the Executive Director and a small Secretariat.

เมื่อวันที่  4 สิงหาคม 2552 ฯพณฯ เอกอัครราชทูต นาย กิตติ วะสีนนท์ ได้ลงนามในความตกลงกาแฟระหว่างประเทศ ฉบับปี ค.ศ. 2007  ณ สำนักงานใหญ่ องค์การกาแฟระหว่างประเทศ กรุงลอนดอน โดยมี Dr. Nestor Osorio Londoo ผู้อำนวยการองค์การกาแฟระหว่างประเทศ เป็นสักขีพยานในการลงนาม

ความตกลงกาแฟระหว่างประเทศ ฉบับปี ค.ศ. 2007 มีวัตถุประสงค์จะส่งเสริมการบริโภคกาแฟ สร้างความแข็งแกร่งของสินค้ากาแฟในระดับโลกโดยผลักดันมาตรฐานความปลอดภัยด้านอาหาร และขจัดอุปสรรคทางการค้า เพื่อให้การขยายตัวของตลาดการค้ากาแฟพัฒนาอย่างเป็นระบบและยั่งยืน

การเป็นสมาชิกดังกล่าว ส่งผลให้ไทยสามารถเข้าร่วมเจรจาผลักดันการแก้ปัญหา/อุปสรรค ทางการค้าต่อสินค้ากาแฟของไทย

และมีช่องทางรับทราบข้อมูล/ ข่าวสาร เกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์ ปัญหา อุปสรรคทางการค้ากาแฟโลก รวมถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลความเห็นกับประเทศต่างๆ เพื่อพัฒนาคุณภาพการผลิต และการตลาดของกาแฟไทย ตลอดจนมีเครือข่ายด้านการค้าและการตลาดกับประเทศคู่ค่ากาแฟอื่นๆ ของโลก

ประเทศ องค์การกาแฟระหว่างประเทศมีสมาชิก 77 ประเทศ เป็นประเทศส่งออก 45 ประเทศ และประเทศนำเข้า 32 ประเทศ
